Elementary: The 7 C’s of History - Defending Your Faith (Linda Laskin)

"The 7 C's of History” help us remember the big events which have effected, and will effect, the history of the world. These are topics that will help each student to know and understand what they believe so they will be ready with an answer when asked to answer the world’s questions about our faith

Topics will include:

  • Creation
  • Corruption - Adam and Eve's disobedience
  • Catastrophe -The flood
  • Confusion -Babel
  • Christ - Came to redeem the World
  • Cross - Paying the penalty for our sins
  • Consummation - When all things are new in the future)

(NOTE: Elementary CrossCurrent will meet for 7 Sundays this term)

 

Jr. High: Media & Culture (Ed Seaman)

This course will be a Scripture and video-filled look at contemporary media and its influence on culture, and on us.  It will help students become aware of and therefore prepared to resist the powerful impact of media on Christians trying to live out their Christian faith in a challenging cultural environment.

Topics will include:

  • The history of mass media
  • Social media and the Christian
  • The news and the truth
  • Merchandising and branding
  • Dissecting a commercial advertisement, and
  • The Power, Money, Prestige Principle. 

 

High School: The Political Animal (Mike English)

The future of America depends on what Christians do — or don’t do. Hosted by Summit Ministries president Jeff Myers, this video & discussion-based class will focus on debunking the myths that keep Christians from becoming more like Christ - and thereby changing the world.  This course will help our high school students engage the subject critically and better understand the crucial role they can play.

Topics will include:

 

  • Engagement: Not Easy, Not Optional
  • Four Myths about Politics
  • Why Christians Avoid Politics and How They Can Embrace It with Integrity
  • Politics American Style: A Christian Tradition
  • How To Make a Difference in Politics
  • Beware
